About Duffy Down Under
Duffy Down Under runs a small fleet of electric boats from the marina at the JW Marriott in Surfers Paradise. There is no engine noise, so a group can talk, play its own music and watch the waterfront homes roll by. The boats are low enough to pass beneath bridges that bigger cruise vessels have to avoid. Each boat is 18 or 22 feet and carries up to 10 to 12 guests, depending on the model. For a bigger occasion the five boats can travel together, taking as many as 52 people. Hire runs from one to five hours. Nobody needs a licence, since the team gives a safety briefing and a route map before you leave, and a skipper can come along if you would rather not drive. The team tailors a route to the occasion, and its groups page names birthdays, wedding anniversaries, hens parties, graduations, family reunions and corporate team building, along with small weddings and renewal ceremonies. Typical stops and sights include Paradise Waters, Budds Beach and the islands around Surfers Paradise. Food and drinks can come on board with you, or catering can be pre-ordered through local restaurants. The cabins have tables, a stereo with phone connection and an ice chest, and some models add a fridge and a toilet. A canopy and full window enclosures keep the rain and wind out, so a grey day need not end the plan. To check boats for your date, send an enquiry.

How many guests can Duffy Down Under take?
One boat takes up to 10 to 12 people depending on the model. With all five boats in use, the team can host a group event of up to 52 guests.
Does someone in our group need a boat licence?
No licence is needed. Staff run a full safety briefing, show you how the boat works and hand over a route map. A skipper can be added if your group would rather relax.
Can we bring our own food and drinks?
Yes, your group can carry its own food and drinks onto the boat and use the built-in ice chest. Catering can also be pre-ordered through restaurants the team partners with.
What happens if it rains on the day?
The boats have a full canopy and window enclosures, so they keep running in showers. They are built for protected waters and do not go outside the Seaway.
