About Lava Lounge @ Burdekin Hotel
Lava Lounge is the Burdekin Hotel's semi-private lounge, and it's a room built around music and socialising rather than sitting down to dinner. The heritage-era details have been kept — exposed brick, timber floors, arched openings and frosted windows — with retro fittings and seating alcoves that break the space into more intimate pockets. The floor space is deliberately flexible: leave it as lounge seating for a relaxed night, or clear it for dancing. There's a dedicated DJ area, a PA system and speakers, and the venue is happy for you to bring your own DJ or play your own music. Wi-Fi, air conditioning and a flatscreen TV are all there, and the lounge is wheelchair accessible with natural light through the windows. The room holds 140 standing or 50 seated. It's one of several spaces in the Burdekin — a Darlinghurst institution on the Oxford Street strip — so the kitchen and bar teams are used to running events alongside the rest of the hotel.
