School Formal Venues on the North Shore

Choosing the Right School Formal Venue

North Shore formals tend to land in one of three suburbs: a club in Cammeray, a harbourside function room at The Spit in Mosman, or a club function centre in North Ryde. Each takes a large year group, but the feel of the night is quite different.

Matching a North Shore suburb to the formal you want:

Cammeray: the Auditorium at Norths Cammeray puts 420 at banquet tables, and has a stage, dance floor and two projector screens.
Mosman: the Function Room at The Boathouse at the Spit sets 300 at tables around a dancefloor, right on Middle Harbour.
North Ryde: three combinable rooms at North Ryde RSL's Grand Pittwater Function Centre, seating 300 in total.
Price guides: Cammeray canapés start from $42 per person, and the Mosman room is listed from $195 per person.
Parking: North Ryde has about 900 free spaces, and The Spit has free on-street parking.

Mosman suits a harbourside formal, Cammeray a night built around a stage, and North Ryde a seated dinner with security on hand.

Gold-leaf ceilings, stone and timber at The Spit give a dressier backdrop for photos by the water.
Artist rooms beside the Cammeray Auditorium suit a formal with a live act.
North Ryde's main room has its own balcony looking out across the trees.
Operable walls at the Mosman room close it down for a smaller school.

Formal logistics across the North Shore

In Cammeray, Auditorium sound and lighting carry an hourly charge, on top of room hire for every space.
The North Ryde club provides event staff and in-house security for the night.
The waterfront room has a projector, PA system and air conditioning.
Each North Ryde function gets its own menu, with dishes swapped for guests with dietary needs.
