About More Than a DJ
More Than a DJ is Nick, a Sunshine Coast-based DJ and MC who plays weddings, corporate functions and staff parties. His approach is to choose music that suits the people in the room, speak clearly on the microphone and let the night move at its own pace rather than following a fixed playlist. Every track is mixed live, built around your must-plays, the songs you want avoided and how guests respond on the night. As MC he introduces the wedding party, keeps speeches and formalities on schedule and works with the venue and other suppliers so the timeline holds together. Most weddings book him for four to six hours, from the ceremony and cocktail hour to the last dance. He brings his own PA, wireless mics, dance floor lighting and spare equipment, and handles set-up and pack-down. Extras such as a sax player over the mix, indoor cold sparks where the venue allows, a CO2 cannon, an audio guest book and an open photo booth can be added to the quote. He regularly plays from Noosa and Sunshine Beach to Caloundra, and inland at Yandina, Maleny and Montville, with a travel fee possible for longer distances. How long does a typical booking run?
Most couples book four to six hours, which covers the main moments from the ceremony or cocktail hour through to the final dance. Timings are flexible to suit your day.
Where on the Sunshine Coast does he play?
He regularly plays from Noosa and Sunshine Beach to Caloundra, including Coolum, Peregian, Twin Waters, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and hinterland spots such as Yandina, Maleny and Montville. Longer trips may carry a travel fee.
Can we choose the songs?
Share your must-plays and any songs to avoid. Nick shapes the rest of the night around those and around how your guests react, mixing every track live rather than running a set list.
How is a date secured?
After you send an enquiry with your date, Nick confirms availability and sends a quote. A 20% deposit locks it in, and you then get a planning portal and a call closer to the day to finalise music and timeline.
