About Segway Tours WA

Segway Tours WA runs guided Segway rides from its office on Barrack Street Jetty in the Perth CBD. Its Perth routes cover Elizabeth Quay and the riverside, the eastern foreshore and Matagarup Bridge, the Swan River bridges loop, and a longer ride out to the Blue Boathouse and up through Kings Park. Each ride begins with a safety talk and a training session, so nobody needs to have ridden a Segway before. Riders wear a helmet fitted with a radio headset, which lets the guide talk about the history, landmarks and wildlife along the way. Tours also run on Rottnest Island from Thomson Bay, and ferry and Segway packages can be booked together. For groups, the team puts together private rides for birthdays, hens and bucks parties, Christmas functions and family gatherings. Corporate events can be anything from a quick hour to a full day, for groups of 10 up to 100, and can include skills training and competitive challenges as well as a guided ride. Events can be held at the operator's Experience Zone or brought to a venue the group chooses, and packages are tailored and quoted to suit each booking.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to have ridden a Segway before?

No experience is needed. Each rider is coached individually after a short safety talk, and the group only moves off once everyone feels steady on the Segway.

Are there age or weight limits for riders?

The usual minimum age is 12, and riders should weigh from 45 to 118 kg. Riders aged 12 to 17 join with an adult, and anyone outside the limits may be accepted after an assessment by the team.

What should we wear on the tour?

Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes are required, and thongs are not allowed. Helmets are supplied, and bags or backpacks should be left behind unless they can be stored safely.

Can we book a private ride for a hens party, birthday or work event?

Yes. Private rides are offered for birthdays, hens and bucks parties, Christmas functions and team building, and each package is tailored to the group. Corporate events suit groups of about 10 to 100 people.

What happens if it rains on the day?

Tours usually go ahead in light rain. If the weather or conditions are unsafe, the team may reschedule or cancel and will contact the affected riders directly.
