About Laser Corps Bibra Lake

Laser Corps Bibra Lake is an outdoor laser tag field run by a Perth operator that has been staging skirmishes for more than a decade. Instead of paintballs, players carry infrared taggers that register hits and report back when a target is tagged, so nobody leaves with welts and there are no masks to fog up. Each booking starts with registration, a change into camouflage gear, a safety talk and a short lesson on the weapons. The armoury covers nine tagger types, from compact pistols and SMGs to machine guns and long-range sniper rifles, and each has trade-offs that push players to work as a squad. Teams then get a few minutes to plan before each mission, with formats such as team death match, domination and capture the flag, and a zombie mode where tagged humans come back as the undead. Birthday groups can slot into public sessions sorted by age, from juniors through to an open bracket, or take the field privately for 20 or more players. Work groups of 10 to 150 can book a two-hour game or stretch it into a mini tournament over half a day, or a whole day of battles, and bucks and hens parties have packages of their own. After the battle, the venue has a party room, change rooms and a barbecue, and the council parkland on the Bibra Lake foreshore sits directly opposite.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a laser tag party at Laser Corps last?

A standard session runs for two hours. The first half hour covers registration, getting into camouflage, the safety talk and weapons training, then players head out to the field for four to six missions.

What age groups can play?

Open sessions are split into Junior (8 to 11), Youth (12 to 15) and Open (15 and over) brackets, and family members are welcome to play alongside any of them.

Can we bring our own food and a birthday cake?

Yes. Outside food is welcome, and groups can bring a cake and their own sausages to cook on the venue's barbecue at no charge, or add the venue's sausage sizzle for $5 a head.

How much does a private party cost?

Private birthday groups of 20 or more take the field for two hours for $1,040 covering the first 20 players, with each extra player charged at $52. Open-session parties start from $46 a person.

Is laser tag safer than paintball?

Laser tag fires no projectiles. The taggers send an infrared beam to register hits, so there is no sting or bruising, and players wear camouflage clothing and a hat rather than a full face mask.

Needs better rules for limited-spawn matches (dead players linger around the flag, you don't know who's alive) and respawning is very glitchy, sometimes can fail a lot. Maybe the sensors are faulty on the aging units bec…
