About The Cooking Professor
The Cooking Professor is a cooking school on Scarborough Beach Road in Mount Hawthorn, owned by chef Riki Kaspi and run with a small team of chefs. It has been teaching Perth cooks since 2007, with public classes in world cuisines, kids and parent-and-child workshops, and long-table dinner nights. For workplaces, the school runs corporate cooking events for 10 to 36 people. The venue has two connected spaces: a commercial kitchen where the group cooks, and a long-table dining room where everyone sits down to eat what they made. A chef leads the session and doubles as facilitator, so people work in teams to a timeline and nobody is left watching from the side. Events last about two to two and a half hours, with a two or three course menu built around cuisines like Spanish paella with tapas, a Moroccan tagine feast, Indian dishes, handmade pasta or Chinese dumplings. The school is BYO for wine and beer, and the venue has free parking and wheelchair access. The same rooms can also be hired as a function space for up to 40 seated guests.

Frequently asked questions
How many people can join a corporate cooking class?
Corporate cooking events at The Cooking Professor take a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 36 people at a time. For groups of 25 or more, the school suggests its Spanish paella and tapas menu or the Moroccan tagine feast.
What does the per-person price include?
Team cooking events start from $120 a person, and that price covers use of the venue, the chef who runs the session, all the cooking activities and the two or three course meal your group sits down to afterwards.
How long does a team cooking event run?
Most events run for two to two and a half hours. The group cooks together in the kitchen first, then moves into the dining room to share the meal, with two or three courses depending on the package.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes. The Cooking Professor is BYO, and groups are encouraged to bring wine or beer to enjoy with the meal they have cooked together in the dining room.
Do we need any cooking experience?
No experience is needed. The chef guides everyone through each dish, and the format suits mixed ages, fitness levels and skill levels, so the whole team can take part on an even footing.
