About Southport Bowls Club
Southport Bowls Club dates back to 1914, when a handful of locals founded it at Queen's Park on the Gold Coast. Groups come for barefoot bowls, a relaxed game played without shoes on the club greens. It runs during trading hours for a simple afternoon with friends, or it can be built into a larger function booking. Three areas are set aside for events: the large, bright Dawn Crichlow Pavilion, the smaller Meriton Room for meetings and private parties, and the casual Broadwater Bar with its outlook across the greens. Each one comes with audio-visual equipment for speeches, slides or presentations. Room hire starts at $200, with food and drinks arranged to suit your budget. The kitchen tailors food to the event, whether that means canapés, shared platters, a buffet or a plated menu, and a customised bar tab can sit alongside it. Birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, Christmas dinners and team-building days are all events the team hosts, and accredited coaches can guide small groups on technique. Send an enquiry to talk through dates, numbers and the room that fits.

Frequently asked questions
Can we play barefoot bowls without booking a full function?
Yes. The club offers barefoot bowls during trading hours as a casual game for friends, and it can also be added to a function booking. Send an enquiry to check green availability for your date.
Which function rooms are available at Southport Bowls Club?
There are three: the Dawn Crichlow Pavilion for larger events, the Meriton Room for meetings and smaller parties, and the Broadwater Bar for casual dining and relaxed gatherings overlooking the greens.
How much does it cost to hire a room?
Room hire starts from $200, and the club says rooms can be used for almost any kind of event. Food and drinks are arranged separately. The site does not publish a barefoot bowls price, so ask when you enquire.
What food can the club provide for a group?
The team can tailor a menu of canapés, platters, buffets or plated meals, and a customised beverage tab can be added. Platters in the Dawn Crichlow Pavilion are the suggested pairing with a barefoot game.
Can someone teach our group how to bowl?
Accredited coaches at the club teach technique, strategy and etiquette, and coaching is available for individuals and small groups. Mention it in your enquiry if your group would like a lesson.

I visited as part of a group for a meal and a jazz night. Meals are hearty and good value. The music on the night we visited was top notch. Great evening out. Good and accessible parking on site as well.
