About Sea the Gold Coast
Sea the Gold Coast is an ocean adventure company founded by Matt Hollstein and based on Marine Parade in Southport. It runs whale watching, snorkelling, scuba and boat tours, with an emphasis on small numbers and looking after the marine environment. The signature trip is small-boat whale watching between June and November. The semi-inflatable vessel sits low and moves quickly, so guests are close to the water with clear views in every direction, and the crew explain whale behaviour along the way. Groups can book privately. Corporate clients regularly use the tours for team bonding, and an entire boat can be reserved for your party rather than sharing seats with others. There are two boats to choose from. The smaller semi-inflatable suits a tight group wanting a fast and personal ride, while the 12-metre catamaran Game Changer seats up to 40 and gives a steadier, more sheltered day on the water. Off-season and underwater options add variety. The Wave Break Island snorkelling tour uses calm, protected water in the Broadwater with equipment supplied, and beginners can try scuba with a PADI professional alongside them. Fitness matters on the small boat, as boarding and holding on while underway takes moderate mobility, and it is not wheelchair friendly. Trips may be rescheduled in strong winds. Send an enquiry with your numbers and preferred trip to shape a private tour.

Frequently asked questions
Can a corporate group book a private tour?
Yes. The team regularly hosts corporate clients on team bonding trips, and a whole boat can be booked for your group. Send an enquiry with your plans.
How many people fit on the boats?
The small semi-inflatable carries a handful of guests, up to 12 according to the fleet page, and the 12-metre catamaran Game Changer seats up to 40.
What does a snorkelling trip cost?
The Wave Break Island snorkelling tour is $65 a person with gear included, and observers pay $55. Private group pricing is quoted on enquiry.
Is there a minimum age on the whale boat?
Yes, because of life jacket sizing. The site lists 10 on one page and 12 on another, so check when you enquire if younger guests are coming.
What should we bring and will we get wet?
Wear long sleeves, a hat and sunglasses, and leave glass at home. Splashes are uncommon but possible, so courtesy spray jackets are provided on board.
