Hijinx Hotel Surfers Paradise dresses a run of game rooms up as a very odd hotel. You check in at reception, get a room assignment and work your way down the corridors, scoring as many points as you can in each space before time runs out. There are 10 rooms here, each with its own theme and task. Expect ball pits to wade through, a giant floor piano to stomp across and a room for shooting hoops. Bookings come in sets of five or ten rooms, and two to six people play each room together. The venue shares Level 1 of the Galaxy Centre with Holey Moley, Strike Bowling and Archie Brothers, so a night can easily stretch beyond the rooms. Food and drinks stay at the bar, which pours cocktails, tap beer and wine alongside bites and sides. For celebrations, the party packages start with Deluxe: 90 minutes with one set of rooms, pizza and fries to share, a party host and a drink on arrival. The larger packages add beverage packages and finger food, and groups can also build their own. Hijinx Hotel names hens and bucks parties, birthdays, kids and teen parties, Christmas parties, work functions and team building among its bookings. Party packages need at least eight guests, and exclusive hire of the venue is also on offer. Under-18s are welcome until 9 pm Sunday to Thursday and until 8 pm on Friday and Saturday. Younger children need a responsible adult with them, and everyone needs photo ID for alcohol or after 8 pm.
