Club Tamborine (Tamborine Mountain)4.4 (187)

Get guests mingling with a casual game on the green, using bowls lent by the club, before moving inside for food and drinks.

Lawn Bowls: What to Look For

Hinterland barefoot bowls for groups sits on Tamborine Mountain, at the community club on Beacon Road. Club Tamborine treats a game as an icebreaker within a function, which is worth knowing if you were picturing an afternoon of competitive bowls.

Ask yourself these before picking the mountain for a bowls function:

Is bowls the main event, or a way to get guests mixing before a meal?
Would your group be happy on a community club green rather than in a commercial venue?
Do you need a screen and microphone for speeches or presentations?
Do you want to plan the food directly with the chef?
Will the party want a fully licensed bar and an indoor room to retreat to?

If most of those are yes, this suits a birthday bash or a team function well.

The club lends sets of bowls, so nobody has to bring gear.
Beginners are fine, as social games here welcome any age or experience.
The party can move inside afterwards, with a wide range of decorating choices.
The mountain's bowls club plays on the same site, so ask which times are open to functions.

Birthday or team day on the Tamborine Mountain green

Birthdays can use the decorating options and the licensed bar indoors.
Seminars and training can use the large screen television and microphone.
Both can bring bowls in as a break from the formal part of the day.
No group limit or price is published, so include start time and guest numbers when you enquire.
