Lauren Bradnam is a classically trained violinist based on the Gold Coast, who started playing at five and has performed with the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra. These days her focus is the songs people already love, so a ceremony might feature Taylor Swift, Elton John or Billie Eilish as easily as a traditional piece. She plays solo with piano or instrumental backing tracks, which gives a fuller sound than one violin alone, and she brings the sound equipment her performance needs. The Ceremony package runs for about an hour and covers guest arrivals, wedding-party entrances, the aisle song, the signing and the exit. Ceremony + Canapés extends that to about three hours, carrying through drinks and photographs until the reception begins. Around three months out, couples receive a questionnaire to help match songs to each part of the day, and she will consider learning a meaningful song that isn't already on her list. She looks after cues and timing on the day, including when someone walks a little faster than planned. Weddings make up most of her calendar, with more than 80 a year at places such as The Langham, Wynmere Estate, Kwila Lodge and Coolibah Downs. She also plays receptions, corporate functions, openings, birthdays and proposals, with electric violin DJ sets available, and the volume can sit quietly in the background or lift the room. Outdoor performances need proper cover and a wet-weather option to protect the instruments.
