About Dr Ace Illusionist

Dr Ace, also known to many clients as Drace, is a Brisbane magician with more than five decades in magic behind him. He started young, working children's birthdays as a teenager, and went on to theme park residencies and television appearances. His act covers close-up and parlour magic, large stage illusions, mentalism, escapology and comedy hypnosis. At grown-up functions he usually moves between groups while canapés and pre-dinner drinks are served, then shifts to table-side tricks. A parlour or stage set can follow if the schedule allows, and a comedy hypnosis show adds a laugh-heavy finish with no shaming of volunteers. Weddings can include live doves, a rabbit or a custom illusion built around a moment such as the cake cutting. He also works as an MC and host for galas, conferences and work dinners. Children's parties are organised into four packages, each adjusted to the ages present. The shortest is a 30-minute stage show without animals; the longer options bring rabbits and doves, a meet-and-greet photo session and a trick for the birthday child. The longest runs for 1.5 hours and includes a levitation illusion and a hands-on magic workshop, so it needs a covered or indoor space on level ground.
