About Spotlight Costume Hire
Spotlight Costume Hire belongs to the Spotlight Theatrical Company, a Gold Coast theatre group staging shows for more than six decades. The hire shop in Benowa has been open to the public for over 35 years. There are thousands of costumes in adult and children's sizes, including vintage and handmade pieces. Themes on the site include pirates, showbiz, steampunk and kids' characters. The team is happy to talk through ideas for a birthday, a fancy dress night or a character-themed event. Seasonal celebrations such as Christmas, Easter and St Patrick's Day are covered too. A hired costume comes with accessories such as jewellery, wraps and shoes, which takes much of the hunting out of finishing a look. To add to it, the shop also sells costume accessories, wigs, masks and makeup. Hosting a murder mystery dinner? Spotlight has printable game kits to go with its costumes, and the photos here come from one of those nights. Murder at Gravestone Manor is set in the 1920s, comes in versions for 8 or 10 players, and guides you from the invitations through to running the game.

What comes with a hired costume?
Costume hire includes accessories such as jewellery, wraps and shoes where they suit the outfit, so you can leave with a finished look. Wigs, masks and makeup are sold separately in the shop.
Where do I collect a costume from?
Costumes are hired from the shop on Ashmore Road in Benowa. It opens from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and closes on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays.
Can the team help if I only have a rough idea for a costume?
Yes. The team encourages people to come in and chat through ideas, so bring a theme or a character in mind and they can suggest outfits and accessories from the racks.
Does Spotlight Costume Hire help with murder mystery parties?
Yes. It offers printable murder mystery dinner kits, including the 1920s-themed Murder at Gravestone Manor for 8 or 10 players, with a guide covering invitations through to running the game, and it can hire out the costumes for the cast.
