About Gold Coast Clay Target Club
Gold Coast Clay Target Club is a sporting club on Gross Road at Woongoolba, with ranges for trap, skeet and sporting clays. Alongside its member competitions, it opens the grounds to groups for coached clay target events. Birthdays, hens and bucks parties and corporate bookings are all on its list. The group fee is all-inclusive. It covers the grounds, experienced coaches, firearm hire, ammunition, ear plugs and targets, so nobody needs to own any equipment. Most events run in the club's bush setting and take between 1.5 and 2 hours, with each shooter firing about 25 to 30 rounds. Every participant starts with an introduction and a safety briefing. A coach then works with each person individually at the firing line, whatever their skill level, and the targets are adjusted to suit the group. There is some paperwork and a firm set of rules, since this is a working firearms range. Your group needs to arrive 30 minutes before the start to complete the range register and, for most people without a firearms licence, the required forms. Adults must show photo ID, and anyone with certain police convictions or orders cannot shoot, so check the club's conditions before inviting guests. Dress matters too: enclosed shoes and a top with sleeves, no singlets and no camouflage. Eye protection is required, and glasses are supplied if you have none. No alcohol is allowed before or during the shoot, so keep the celebration drinks for later and send an enquiry to arrange a date.
