About Engineer's Hut @ Rivermakers
Rivermakers is a heritage precinct on Colmslie Road in Morningside, built around the old Acetate of Lime Factory beside the Brisbane River. Its HQ buildings now house a brewery, a distillery bar, a restaurant and a ceramics studio. Engineer's Hut sits right on the riverfront of HQ, in the building where the factory's engineers once worked. The original character has been kept: soaring ceilings, exposed timber beams and trusses, and rows of barrels ageing Bavay Distillery gin. The room is enclosed by floor-to-ceiling glass doors that retract, so it stays usable whatever the weather. Step outside and a wrap-around terrace looks over the river and the precinct's tall brick chimney, with a grassed area beside it for larger groups. The venue quotes about 150 guests standing or about 50 seated. Inside is air-conditioned, and a built-in sound system covers music and speeches. The spaces are sold as dry hire, so furniture is arranged through recommended suppliers, though the barrels and stools in the hut can be used on request. Food, drinks and bar staff come from the precinct's own supplier list, which includes the HQ tenants; outside catering isn't allowed, but you can bring a celebration cake. Functions at Rivermakers are coordinated by The Hills of Rivermakers. Events wrap up by 11pm at the latest, and a site inspection can be arranged on a Monday afternoon before you book.

How many guests does Engineer's Hut hold?
The venue lists Engineer's Hut at about 150 guests for a standing event or about 50 for a seated one. A grassed area next to the terrace can take overflow for larger groups.
Can we bring our own caterer?
No. Food, drinks and bar staff are booked from Rivermakers' own supplier list, which includes the businesses at HQ. A cake of your own for the celebration is fine.
Is furniture included in the hire?
The spaces are dry hire, so furniture isn't included and the venue can recommend hire companies that know the site. The barrels and stools already in Engineer's Hut can be used if you ask.
Is there a sound system?
Yes. Engineer's Hut has a built-in sound system that covers background music and speeches. There is no other AV equipment, but power is easy to access if your suppliers need to set up.
How late can an event run and how do we secure a date?
All events must finish by 11pm, and using the space after hours carries a $100 fee. You can hold a date tentatively, but it is only confirmed once the deposit is paid; the amount depends on the hire.
