Bougainvillea House is a standalone event building on Boundary Street, set at the eastern end of the Howard Smith Wharves precinct below the cliffs. It sits a little higher than the rest of the wharves, which gives groups more privacy and a clear outlook over the Brisbane River. The look borrows from Mediterranean summers and easy Queensland living: white timber, cane furniture, cushioned lounges and an arched back bar. A covered veranda runs around the building, so guests can drift between the inside room and the open air with the Story Bridge and city towers in view. The house holds up to 150 people for a standing cocktail party or 70 at a seated dinner. It is air-conditioned and weather protected, has wifi and wheelchair access, and has its own bathrooms on site. All food comes from the precinct's own kitchens, served as feasting platters, plated courses or roaming cocktail menus, and outside catering is not allowed. Special diets are handled with a week's notice, and you can bring a celebration cake for the team to cut and serve for a small cakeage charge. Drinks run as a per-person package timed to your event, as a bar tab, or as a cash bar where guests pay for their own. Cocktails on arrival or after dinner can be added when you plan the menu. Furniture, linen, tableware, set-up and service staff are included in your spend, and you get an hour of access before guests arrive.
