About River to Bay
River to Bay is a locally owned Brisbane boat operator that takes groups between the river and Moreton Bay. Its custom-built fleet was designed for quick bay crossings, and the private charter boat seats 20 guests with a skipper and deckhand on every trip. Private charters are built around where your group wants to go. That might be a secluded beach on the bay, a run up the Brisbane River past the city, or a day on the islands. A well-loved set itinerary is the private island pub trawl, which crosses the bay to North Stradbroke Island and Moreton Island, calls in at two island bars, includes lunch at Amity and leaves time for a swim before heading home to Manly at sunset. The boat has a sound system playing Spotify from an on-board tablet, a PA, a small toilet, two large eskies with ice, stand-up paddleboards and beach toys. Snorkel gear, cabanas, beach games and a table can be added on request, and the charter can be extended to give you more time on the sand. The company names birthdays, Christmas parties, corporate events, hens and bucks among the groups it hosts. Charters usually depart from Manly, with pick-ups from city river stops at extra cost. Can we bring our own alcohol or food?
BYO alcohol is not allowed because the boat carries a liquor licence, and drinks are bought from the bar on board. You can bring your own food, but glass of any kind is refused at boarding.
Where do private charters depart from?
Charters normally leave from Manly Harbour on Moreton Bay. Pick-ups from the Brisbane Powerhouse, the City Botanic Gardens, Northshore Hamilton or Howard Smith Wharves can be arranged at extra cost.
How long does a private charter run?
Charter length is set to suit the group, and most groups choose six to eight hours so there is plenty of island time. The private island pub trawl runs from mid-morning until about 5pm.
