About Curlew Escape

Curlew Escape is a 14 m Bavaria 45 Cruiser sailing yacht based at Manly Boat Harbour on Brisbane's bayside. The whole boat is booked privately, so the only people on board are your guests and the crew, and up to 12 can come along on a day trip. Charters run from two hours to ten. Shorter options include a two-hour sail around the western bay islands, timed for sunset if you like, and a four-hour afternoon sail that suits hens' parties and work groups. Longer days head east to anchor at Horseshoe Bay or Platypus Bay on Peel Island, Lucinda Bay on Moreton Island or the Tangalooma Wrecks, where guests can swim, snorkel, kayak, paddle board or go ashore for beach games. The yacht has a shaded cockpit with a dining table, a saloon with leather seating, four cabins, three showers and three toilets. There is a cockpit BBQ, a gas oven and cooktop, two fridges and a Bose sound system. Guests are welcome to help helm and trim the sails, or leave it all to the skipper. Food and alcohol are BYO, with soft drinks, juices, coffee and ice supplied, or you can order catering platters before the day. The operator lists cruises for birthday parties, hens' parties, staff reward and Christmas party days, and corporate team building, plus bridal arrivals at bayside reception venues. Pricing

Curlew Escape prices each charter by its length, not by guest numbers. Listed cruises include a two-hour sunset sail at $1,025, a bridal arrival charter at $1,200, a four-hour hens' party cruise at $1,700, and birthday, staff reward and island day trips from $1,700 to $2,700 depending on duration. A 15% surcharge applies on public holidays and between Christmas and New Year, and a 50% deposit secures the booking.

Food

Guests can bring their own food, stowed in the two fridges on board, or order catering platters ahead from local suppliers, including seafood, roast chicken and ham, finger sandwiches, cheese, fruit and cakes, priced per guest. The galley has a gas oven, cooktop and cockpit BBQ.

Beverages

Alcohol is BYO. Soft drinks, juices, mixers, tea and Nespresso coffee are supplied, along with ice cubes for drinks, wine glasses, champagne flutes and an ice bucket, so there is no need to bring ice.

Wharfs & Availability

Charters board at the William Gunn Jetty, Manly Boat Harbour, on Moreton Bay. Two and four-hour sails cruise the western bay islands, while eight to ten-hour days anchor at Peel Island, Bird Islet, Lucinda Bay or the Tangalooma Wrecks on Moreton Island. Overnight and weekend cruises are also available.

Where does the yacht leave from?

Charters depart from the William Gunn Jetty at Manly Boat Harbour on Moreton Bay. Shorter sails stay around the western bay islands, while full days cross to Peel Island or Moreton Island.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

Yes. Alcohol is BYO and you can bring your own food, which can be stowed in the two fridges on board. Soft drinks, juices, Nespresso coffee, tea and ice for drinks are supplied, and catering platters can be ordered ahead.

What activities are included on the longer cruises?

Full and extended day charters anchor off an island beach for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding, and the tender can take guests ashore for beach cricket, soccer and frisbee. The shorter afternoon sail is a sailing trip without water sports.

What happens if the weather turns bad?

The crew will reschedule your sail to avoid rain or a strong wind warning, and a postponed cruise is credited for a year. If wind makes your chosen anchorage unsuitable, they will suggest another destination or a new date.
