About River City Cruises
River City Cruises is a family-owned Brisbane business that has run cruises on the river since 2002. Its vessel, MV Neptune, is a Brisbane-built 1966 timber cruiser, and alongside its daily sightseeing trips the whole boat can be hired for private functions of up to 50 guests. On board there is a fully covered upper deck with open views, an indoor saloon with seating, plus room on the bow and aft decks for guests who want the breeze. The crew run a fully licensed bar stocked with lagers, premium and craft beers, wine, spirits and premixes, and a PA and audio system plays your own music or theirs. The simplest way to book the whole boat is the afternoon private charter: 90 minutes on the river from mid-afternoon, with the option to add lighter bites and a bar tab. Groups wanting more time on the water, or a full meal on board, can have a longer function put together with catering to suit. The boat runs end-of-year and Christmas functions, and the team also arrange private trips for seniors, youth and school groups. Because Neptune is a heritage vessel, only folding wheelchairs can come on board, although the pontoon and paths suit wheelchairs. Send an enquiry through Party Hero with your date, time of day and guest numbers.

Frequently asked questions
How many guests can MV Neptune take for a private function?
River City Cruises takes private events of up to 50 passengers on MV Neptune, spread across the covered upper deck, the indoor saloon and the open bow and aft decks.
Where does the private charter board?
All cruises board and return at the Cultural Centre Public Pontoon in South Brisbane, on the river just upstream of the Victoria Bridge, within walking distance of the city and South Bank.
Can we bring our own drinks on board?
No. MV Neptune is a licensed vessel and guests cannot carry alcohol on or off the boat. The on-board bar stocks beer, craft beer, wine, spirits and premixes, and a bar tab can be arranged for a private charter.
Is food available on a private charter?
Yes. The 90-minute afternoon charter can include lighter bites, and longer functions can be set up with fuller catering on board. Ask the team about the catering and bar options when you enquire.
Is the boat wheelchair accessible?
Partly. Because MV Neptune is a heritage vessel, only folding wheelchairs can be taken on board. The pontoon and the paths down to it are wheelchair accessible.
