Brisvegas Cruises is a family-run charter business that has been running parties on the Brisbane River for more than 25 years, with hosts Barrie and Penny Coonan. Every booking is a full private charter, so a single group has the whole boat, the bar and the crew to itself. There are two boats to pick from. The Lady in Red is a red double-decker whose entire top deck works as a dance floor, and the James Cavill is a blue boat dressed in fairy lights. Each takes up to 130 guests, both have covered decks on both levels and proper bathrooms, and there is no minimum group size from Sunday to Thursday. Food is chosen from sit-down meals, finger food spreads or BBQ packages, with dietary needs catered for. Groups can also bring in their own caterer for a small clean-up fee, and a cake is welcome. Drinks are not BYO but come from fully stocked bars through drinks packages or a bar tab. Music runs through the boat's sound system from your own playlist, or you can bring a DJ or live act, and microphones are there for speeches. The team names birthdays, hens and bucks parties, weddings, corporate functions and Christmas parties among its regular bookings. Cruises usually run for three to four hours, pass sights such as the Story Bridge, Kangaroo Point cliffs, South Bank and the New Farm Powerhouse, and pick up from points along the river agreed when you book.
