About United Sports Club

United Sports Club is a community club on Joyce Street in East Ipswich, founded in 1948 and still home to its original bowling green and clubhouse. Alongside the bowls club it hosts hockey, netball, social golf and four-wheel-drive groups, and runs a sports bar and restaurant open to visitors. The function centre takes private and business events, from birthdays and engagement parties to hens and bucks nights and company team-building days. Hall hire is $250, paid when you book. Inside, tables are arranged to your plan and the walls carry programmable lighting that can be set to the colours of your theme. Guests can pick songs on built-in touch screens or through a free phone app, and DJs are welcome if they supply proof of public liability insurance. A private function bar can be staffed for $50 an hour, with drinks at normal club prices and any tab settled when the bar closes at 11.30pm. Everyone needs to be out by midnight. For something more casual, groups can book barefoot bowls, with equipment, sunscreen and a quick lesson. Add pizza while you play, or a BBQ ranging from sausages and bread to rib fillet steak with salads. The club also does share platters for 8 to 10 people, including sandwiches, party food, Asian bites, seafood, vegetarian, gluten-free, cheese and cakes. Send an enquiry to check dates and talk through the food.
