About The Joinery
The Joinery is a converted warehouse on Montague Road in West End, run as a private event space by Brisbane sisters Penny and Maria. A white metal lattice façade faces the street, and inside are high ceilings, exposed brick, polished concrete floors and plywood joinery panels. The main room offers 285 square metres of open floor, plus an integrated bar, an enclosed terrace and a private green room. It holds up to 200 guests standing or 180 seated, and only one event is booked at a time. Because the room starts as a blank canvas, hosts bring in their own furniture, styling and lighting, or pick from the venue's furniture packages. A built-in speaker system and a wireless microphone come with the hire. Food comes only from the on-site caterer, which designs menus to suit each event, from canapés and fork food to grazing stations, buffets and shared or plated banquets. Most dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free and nut-free, can be handled with notice. Guests can bring their own alcohol for a corkage fee per head, served by RSA-certified staff, or the venue can supply a beverage package. Cocktail and spirit stations can be added on request. Standard hire runs for six hours including set-up and pack-down, with staff, security and venue management included. Pricing
A non-refundable deposit of $1,210 secures the date, and the balance is due two weeks before the event. Soft drinks and other items charged on consumption are invoiced afterwards, and time beyond the standard six hours is charged by the hour.
Food
Meat-free, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and nut-free needs can be catered for with enough notice. A celebration cake can be brought in for a cakeage fee.

How many guests does The Joinery hold?
Up to 200 standing for a cocktail-style event, or up to 180 seated depending on the table layout. A combined ceremony and reception set-up suits up to 60 guests.
Is there a minimum spend?
On Fridays and Saturdays a minimum spend of $15,000 applies, covering venue hire, security, staff and catering. Other days are quoted to suit the event.
Can we use our own caterer?
No. The on-site caterer handles all food at The Joinery and designs a menu around your event and budget. For weddings, a menu tasting for the couple is included once the deposit is paid.
Can we bring our own alcohol?
Yes. BYO alcohol is allowed for a corkage fee per head and is served by RSA-certified staff. Beverage packages and cocktail or spirit stations are also available, and soft drinks are charged on consumption.
Is there parking for guests?
There is no guest parking on site. Pay-and-display street parking is available on Montague Road and nearby streets, with secure car parks a short walk away.
