About EC Venue
EC Venue is a multi-level event space on McLachlan Street in Fortitude Valley, run alongside the Elements Collective dance company. Its rooms are deliberately plain, so hosts can bring in their own styling, furniture and theme. The Warehouse fills the top floor: a loft room with timber floorboards, a sawtooth roof line and lots of natural light. It holds 200 standing or 140 seated and has a movable private bar, a PA, air conditioning and bathrooms on the same level. On the ground floor, the Blackbox Studio is an urban room with polished concrete, warm lighting and its own bar and bathrooms for up to 80 guests. The Foyer Bar, painted with two large murals by Fintan Magee, also takes about 80, and a small pop-up area within it suits 20 to 30. Catering can be handled in-house or by an outside caterer, with grazing tables, canapés and buffets on the venue's menu. Partner stylists and furniture hire are available if you would rather not decorate yourself. The venue is licensed and BYO drinks are not allowed. Bar staff can be booked by the hour, or guests can be put on a three-hour drinks package covering beer, wine, spirits and cocktails. Hire packages give five private hours with flexible bump-in and bump-out times. Security is required for 18th and 21st birthdays, and everything must be packed up by midnight.

A reserved area in the public Foyer Bar is a $500 minimum spend for three hours. A 20% deposit confirms a booking, and the balance is due seven days before.

How many guests can EC Venue hold?
The Warehouse takes up to 200 standing or 140 seated. The Blackbox Studio and the Foyer Bar each hold about 80, the whole ground floor takes 200, and the Foyer pop-up space suits 20 to 30.
Can we bring our own caterer and decorations?
Yes. The rooms are a blank canvas and DIY styling is welcome. External catering is allowed with management's approval for a fee of $159.50, or you can use the venue's own food packages.
What does it cost to hire the venue?
Exclusive private hire works on a bar minimum spend of $600 an hour, with a two-hour minimum, so from $1,200. Hourly room hire, a venue manager and a cleaning fee apply if you hire the space without the minimum spend option.
Do 18th and 21st birthdays need security?
Yes. The venue books licensed security for every 18th or 21st and for other higher-risk events, charged to the host. A refundable $500 bond also applies to events the venue rates as high risk.
Can we bring our own drinks?
No. EC Venue is licensed and BYO alcohol is not permitted. You can book bar staff by the hour or choose a three-hour drinks package.
