About Lucky Star Tavern
Lucky Star Tavern is a local pub on Hellawell Road in Sunnybank Hills, pouring beers on the southside since 1941. Inside it has a bistro, a whisky bar and gaming, and outside a long covered verandah. Functions use three areas. The Hideaway Room is a private room lined with greenery that seats 20 to 40 or takes 40 to 70 standing. The verandah seats 30, and its far end can be booked on its own for 50 to 100 seated or 70 to 100 standing, with a private smoking area. Join the Hideaway Room and the Verandah End and the space holds 60 to 100 seated or up to 150 cocktail style, with private toilets. The bistro dining room seats 40 to 60, with the public bar still open alongside. Cocktail functions are set with tall tables and stools, while seated events use low tables and a plated set or alternate drop menu. Food comes from the pub kitchen as share platters or plated meals, and no outside catering is allowed apart from a celebration cake. Drinks are charged at normal bar prices through a bar tab you set up in advance, choosing which drinks it covers and how long it runs. To book an area exclusively you pay either a hire fee or a minimum spend, and the fee holds your date. Balloons and table decorations can be arranged for a small fee. Send an enquiry to check dates.

What does it cost to book a function area?
Exclusive use needs a hire fee or a minimum spend. The Verandah End is $150 hire or a $400 minimum spend, the Hideaway Room is $200 or $600, and the two together are $350 or $1,000. The hire fee works as the deposit and comes off the minimum spend.
What food is available?
Share platters range from $50 to $210, covering wedges, Aussie party food, Asian bites, sliders, seafood, antipasto, cheese and sandwiches. Gluten-free and vegan half platters are available, and seated events can have a plated set menu.
How does the bar tab work?
Drinks are charged at regular bar prices. You can limit the tab to certain drinks, run it only for set hours, or give some guests a wider choice than others, and a card or cash deposit is needed to open it.
Can we bring a cake or decorations?
A cake bought from an accredited food business can be brought in, but no other outside food or drinks. You can decorate yourself, or the pub can supply balloons, tablecloths and table scatters for a small fee.
