About The Triffid

The Triffid is a live music venue on Stratton Street in Newstead, within walking distance of Fortitude Valley. It sits in an old commercial hangar from the Second World War era, joined to a large beer garden. When it isn't hosting gigs, the venue is set up for banquets, cocktail parties, art exhibitions, corporate functions and weddings. Its industrial heritage shell gives events a raw, rock and roll look. The Live Room is the main hall under the arched roof, with a private bar, its own amenities and a mezzanine looking over the floor. It takes 170 at banquet tables, 270 in theatre rows, 450 for cocktails or 700 standing, with the venue's AV and lighting rig. The Garden is a casual outdoor space under festoon lights, overlooked by the Hero Wall, which honours influential Queensland musicians. It holds 180 for a function, with smaller zones such as The Wall for 30, The Red Brick for 70 or both together for 100, and an outdoor stage is available. Book the whole venue and you get the Live Room, Mezzanine Bar, garden, foyer and The Deck for up to 1,100 cocktail guests. Indoor and outdoor areas link up, and you can bring your own music or band if you like.
