About The Officers Mess
The Officers Mess is a riverside function venue and casual restaurant at 50 Oxlade Drive in New Farm, known for years as Events on Oxlade. Everything served comes from its own kitchen, from simple finger food and buffets through to wedding banquets and corporate dining. The Ballroom is the main function room, with old-world character and a polished sprung dance floor. It seats between 100 and 300 guests, and standing events can spread across the room, the patio and the lawn for up to 900. Outside, the lawn runs down to the Brisbane River and is used for outdoor ceremonies, with a wet-weather plan in place. Other spaces include The Deck, a light-filled area beside the bakery with river views, plus the River Room, the restaurant and riverside picnic tables. The events team plans engagement parties, milestone birthdays, anniversaries, reunions, balls, Christmas parties and New Year's Eve nights, along with weddings and corporate functions. Corporate events can run from 50 to 2,500 guests, with rooms combined or the lawn used for breakout sessions. Menus use locally sourced ingredients and can be shaped to different tastes and budgets. Staff can help with themes, props, menus and drinks packages and recommend outside suppliers, so send an enquiry with your date and preferred space to start planning.
