About Soapbox Beer

Soapbox Beer is an independent brewery, bar and kitchen on Gipps Street in Fortitude Valley. It occupies a former agricultural supply store that was stripped back to its old timber, concrete floors and industrial fittings. The ground-floor BrewBar looks straight onto the working brewery, where the core, batch and seasonal beers are made. Group bookings of 20 or more are handled as functions, and the venue offers several ways to set up a party. The Tank Room sits in the middle of the bar beside the steel tanks, seating 75 guests or holding 130 standing. At the front, the Window Room is a semi-enclosed nook with bench seats, stools and bar tables for 20 standing or 14 seated, looking out over the Valley towards the city. For a bigger crowd the whole BrewBar can be booked exclusively for up to 90 seated or 150 cocktail-style guests, with a dedicated bar. Upstairs, level one is an open industrial room for up to 200 seated or 400 standing, with an 8 m by 4 m stage suited to bands, comedy or speeches; it is reached by stairs only. The kitchen serves gastro-pub food, from classic pub dishes to modern Australian share plates and snacks, with vegetarian and vegan choices. The bar pours nine house beers, a craft cider, Australian wines and local spirits.

Most delicious vege meal I've had in ages. The Haloumi & Zucchini pops and Cauliflower steak were amazing. The Beef Short Rib was falling off the bone. What a great find.

I'm the guy that visits a place highly regarded for both food and beers, yet walks straight upstairs to watch a band. What I can say, though, is that I've enjoyed every visit. The upstairs area is open and accessible, is…
