About Rooftop @ Sunny's Margate Beach
Sunny's Margate Beach is a cafe, restaurant and rooftop bar inside The Sebel on McCulloch Avenue, looking out over Moreton Bay. The rooftop is the venue's main function space, with a sweeping view across the water. The deck is split into three bookable areas. The North Shelter holds 10 to 25 guests, the South Shelter 10 to 20, and the lawn-covered Garden 20 to 30, each with a share of the bay view. For a larger event, the entire rooftop can be hired for up to 100 guests. Whole-rooftop bookings are offered Monday to Thursday and on Saturdays outside public events, but not on Fridays or Sundays. Food is served as shared platters, each feeding 10 to 15 people, ordered at the same time as the booking. The kitchen can talk through dietary needs, and drinks can be set up as packages or a bar tab. As the rooftop is open-air, every booking depends on the weather, and the team will look for another spot in the venue if conditions turn. Guests must be off the rooftop by 10pm, and it is 18+ after 5pm. A speaker system can be arranged in advance, though DJs, live music and karaoke are not permitted. You are welcome to bring decorations, keeping in mind the rooftop can be windy.

Exclusive hire of the whole rooftop is a $3,000 minimum spend from Monday to Thursday for up to 60 guests, or $10,000 on a Saturday for up to 100. A 15% deposit is paid once the date is confirmed, and catering ordered through the venue is paid two weeks before the event.

How many guests can the rooftop hold?
The whole rooftop takes up to 100 guests on Saturdays and up to 60 from Monday to Thursday. The North Shelter, South Shelter and Garden suit smaller groups of 10 to 30.
What is the minimum spend?
Shelter and garden bookings have a $500 minimum spend or a $200 space booking fee. The entire rooftop is a $3,000 minimum spend Monday to Thursday and $10,000 on a Saturday.
Can we have a DJ or live band?
No, DJs, live music and karaoke are not allowed on the rooftop. An audio and speaker system is available if you arrange it before the event.
Are children allowed?
Children aged 10 and over, and babies in prams, are welcome until 5pm with supervision. After 5pm the rooftop is strictly 18+.
What happens if the weather turns?
All rooftop bookings are weather dependent. The venue will try to find an alternative space inside Sunny's for your group.
