About Merci Event Space
Merci Event Space is a boutique venue on the upper level of 274 Hawthorne Road in Hawthorne. Its name is the French word for thank you, and it is set up for showers, birthdays, small weddings and other gatherings. The room is bright and calm, with Hamptons and plantation-style details: white shutters, timber floors, rattan pendants and soft neutral furnishings. That neutral base can be styled to suit the event, either by your own approved stylist or the venue's preferred one. Each booking has the whole building to itself, including a dedicated bar and a balcony overlooking Hawthorne Road. The venue takes up to 60 guests, from long styled tables to mingling events. The kitchen offers hot and cold canapé packages tailored to the event, and the bar is fully licensed. Cakes can be brought in once approved, with a $2.50 per guest charge for serving them. There are two main packages. Simply Merci is venue only, for weekday bookings, workshops and shoots, while the Full Merci Experience combines venue hire with a food and beverage minimum for celebrations. Add-ons include styling upgrades, florals, balloons, photography set-ups and a luxury mirror photo booth. Music runs as your own playlist through the house sound system, and private viewings can be arranged before booking.

How many guests can Merci Event Space hold?
Up to 60 guests can be hosted, and every booking has the whole building to itself.
How much is the deposit?
The deposit is 50% of the venue hire fee, and the booking is confirmed once the booking form is accepted and the deposit is paid. Final numbers and menu choices are locked in 14 days before the event.
Can we play our own music or book a DJ?
You can supply a Spotify playlist, which staff play through the venue sound system. Live bands, DJs and outside sound equipment need written approval, as the venue sits in a residential area.
Can we bring our own decorations or stylist?
Yes, as long as management approves them first. Confetti, glitter, party poppers, smoke machines, streamers and anything stuck to the walls are not allowed.
Can we bring a cake?
Yes, once the team has approved it. Cakes carry a $2.50 per guest charge, which covers plating and serving them.
