About Hope and Anchor
Hope and Anchor is an English-style local on Given Terrace in Paddington, set inside a heritage-listed bakery that dates to the 19th century. The old brick walls, sash windows and candlelit outdoor tables give it a warm, lived-in feel, especially after dark. Groups and functions are spread across three areas, each with its own character. The Courtyard sits under a ceiling of hanging plants and copper lights, with the original brick fireplace still in working order, and seats up to 40. Upstairs, the First Floor is lined with vintage British wallpaper and maritime pictures, with four booths that seat six and two smaller tables. It suits an exclusive booking of up to 28, or a single group of up to 12 when shared. The Captain's Attic is the smallest and most private option, almost a room of its own, taking between 6 and 12 guests. It works well for a quiet dinner with close friends or colleagues. Larger groups eat from set menu packages drawn from the pub's regular menu with a few extras, and the kitchen can handle most dietary needs. On Friday and Saturday nights, any group of 10 or more is asked to choose one of these set menus. Bookings run for two hours, with longer stays charged at an hourly rate agreed in advance. Food and drinks count towards a minimum spend, food pre-orders are due three business days ahead, and you can send an enquiry to check dates.
