About Criterion Tavern
The Criterion Tavern, known to regulars as The Cri, is a long-standing pub on a busy George Street corner in the Brisbane CBD. It is a short walk from Queen Street Mall and King George Square, which makes it an easy meeting point for office crowds and visitors. There are three function areas. The Lounge is the most private, with couches, a pool table and a dart board, and it can be booked exclusively for up to 80 people standing or 30 seated. The Courtyard sits below George Street, with greenery, fresh air and outdoor seating for 40, or room for 80 standing. The Bar is the heart of the pub, with seating for 60 and plenty of space to mingle around the counter. The venue cannot be hired out in full, but each area can be set up to suit the event. There is no hire fee, and the team can help with early set-ups, balloons on request, cake storage and organised tabs. Confetti is not permitted. Food comes from the full pub menu or from catering platters ordered at least 48 hours ahead, such as Asian-style bites, sliders, grazing boards and pizza slabs. The kitchen covers meat-free, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free diets, and you can bring your own cake with no cakeage fee. A TV with HDMI and a microphone are supplied at no charge. The pub is wheelchair accessible, with a lift to the first floor and an accessible bathroom. Send an enquiry to check dates for your corporate function, birthday or reception.
