Vanilla Pod Specialty Cake Kitchen is an Albion cake studio that has been designing and baking celebration cakes for around two decades. Its signature is buttercream: the team stopped offering fondant-iced wedding cakes and now finishes every design in buttercream, which it recommends even for warm-weather receptions. Wedding and engagement cakes follow a set process: couples complete an enquiry form with a few inspiration images, then book a tasting and design consultation at the kitchen, where the quote is given. The designers then liaise with the venue, stylist and florist so the cake arrives on time, and fresh flowers are applied on delivery. Venue drop-offs run Monday to Saturday mornings. For businesses, Vanilla Pod makes logo cakes, rectangle cakes and printed cupcakes for team milestones, client thank-yous, launches and functions catering for 10 to 200 people. Ordering two to four weeks ahead is recommended, and door-to-door delivery is offered in and around Brisbane. The celebration range covers tall naked cakes, mousse cakes, double number cakes, gender reveal and baby shower cakes, cupcakes and sugar cookies. How much does a Vanilla Pod wedding cake cost?
Wedding cakes are made to order, so there is no fixed price list. As a rough guide, most designs come to between $13 and $16 for each serve, a figure that covers Brisbane delivery and the fresh flowers being added, and the exact quote is given at your design consultation.
Does Vanilla Pod still make fondant wedding cakes?
No. Every wedding cake is now finished in buttercream, and the team recommends buttercream for receptions in warmer weather too. The whole wedding gallery is buttercream work, so you can see the range of finishes before booking.
How does the wedding cake tasting work?
After sending the enquiry form, couples book a tasting and design consultation at the Albion kitchen with at least a week's notice. You shortlist four or five flavours to try, talk through the design and receive your quote at the appointment.
Can Vanilla Pod make a cake with our company logo?
Yes. Corporate logo cakes, rectangle cakes and logo cupcakes are made in your brand colours for functions of 10 to 200 people. Allow two to four weeks where possible, although shorter-notice orders can sometimes be squeezed in.
Are gluten-free or vegan options available?
Most cakes can be baked gluten free on request. Tiered cakes are not made vegan or dairy free, but a chocolate cupcake free of dairy, eggs, gluten and nuts can be ordered alongside the cake for guests with those needs.
