About The Shack @ Beach Hotel
The Shack is the private function space at the Beach Hotel, the pub on Bay Street that looks straight across to Main Beach in Byron Bay. It sits in its own corner of the hotel as a casual bar built for events. The room is bright, with tall cathedral-style ceilings, plenty of greenery and an open plan that runs from indoors to outdoors. Furniture is a mix of low tables and high bar leaners, and the outlook is over the beach. Exclusive hire of the indoor Shack takes cocktail events of 30 to 120 guests. For bigger parties, the hotel's beachfront beer garden can be added to the booking, lifting capacity to 250 standing guests. Every exclusive hire chooses a food package. Canapé packages run from five pieces for $45 per person up to six pieces for $85 per person, or there is a shared pizza menu at $55 per person served at the table or as grazing. Drinks come as two- or three-hour packages of wine, beer and soft drinks, with a premium tier that adds house spirits. Arrival spritzes and margaritas can be added, and the venue is fully licensed, so BYO is not allowed. A minimum spend applies to every exclusive hire, along with a venue hire fee charged per guest. The tiers include vegetarian and vegan options such as arancini, cauliflower bites and vegetable spring rolls alongside seafood and meat pieces. The Roamin' Pizza menu at $55 per person serves hand-stretched pizzas and sides at the table or as a grazing spread.

What does it cost to hire The Shack?
Minimum spends start at $5,000 and change with the time of year. A venue hire charge of $10 per guest is added on top of the minimum spend, and including the beer garden raises the minimum spend.

Every exclusive hire picks a food package. Canapé packages cost $45 to $85 per person for five or six pieces drawn from three tiers, custom selections are $12 a piece with at least nine pieces per guest, and a shared pizza menu is $55 per person.

The standard package of wine, beer and non-alcoholic drinks is $60 per person for two hours or $70 for three. The premium package adds house spirits at $80 for two hours or $95 for three. The hotel is a licensed venue, so BYO drinks are not permitted.
Can we decorate The Shack?
Signs and decorations that are easy to clean up are fine once the function manager approves them. Outside stylists are not permitted, and moving the heavier furniture or changing the floor plan has to be agreed with the function manager and may cost extra.
