About Ember Byron Bay
Ember Byron Bay is a steak and seafood restaurant with its own cocktail bar, in the Mercato on Byron centre on Jonson Street. Most of the cooking happens on a Spanish Josper charcoal grill, which gives the meat, seafood and vegetables a smoky edge. The venue is split into a warm, timber-lined dining room, a cocktail bar with a quartz counter and two balconies. The Jonson Street balcony is the private one, taking 48 seated or up to 80 standing, while the alfresco balcony on the quieter side opens onto the bar for smaller cocktail groups. Exclusive hire of the whole place covers up to 140 for a cocktail event or 100 seated, and the event kit puts the full venue at 150 standing. The balconies close in with blinds and heaters when the weather cools, so they work in winter too. Group menus are served share-style down the middle of the table. The Silver menu brings focaccia, arancini, grilled king prawns, wagyu rump and Portuguese-style chicken with sides, while Gold adds oysters and moves up to the house wagyu scotch fillet and a 60-day dry aged rib eye. Groups on a set menu can order from a function drinks list of beers, wines by the glass, cocktails and spirits, including local gin and vodka. Beverage packages can also be arranged to suit the menu. The team hosts birthdays, Christmas parties, engagements, anniversaries, pre-wedding dinners, small receptions and corporate events, and an events coordinator helps with the plan, including audio-visual needs for work functions. Frequently asked questions
How many people can Ember Byron Bay host?
Groups from 10 up to 140 are catered for. Exclusive hire of the whole restaurant suits up to 140 at a cocktail event or 100 seated, and the event kit lists the full venue at 150 standing.
Can we book just part of the restaurant?
Yes. The private balcony over Jonson Street seats 48 or holds around 80 standing and has table service for drinks. The alfresco balcony seats 22, or about 30 for cocktails when paired with the cocktail bar.
What are the group menus and prices?
There are two share-style menus: Silver at $84 per person and Gold at $120 per person. Both run from bread and entrées to charcoal-grilled mains and sides, with Gold adding oysters and premium wagyu and dry aged cuts.
Can Ember cater for dietary requirements?
Yes. Vegetarian, vegan and other dietary needs can be covered if you mention them when booking. On the Gold menu, guests who skip red meat can have chicken or fish instead.
Are the balconies usable in winter?
Yes. Both balconies are open-air in warmer months and are closed in with blinds and heated during winter, so the outdoor areas can still be booked in the cooler season.
