The Hut is a Mediterranean-style restaurant on Friday Hut Road at Possum Creek, in the hills of the Byron hinterland. The restaurant fills the former O'Possum Creek Schoolhouse, a timber-clad building that has been a fixture of the area for generations. Day to day it is a long-lunch restaurant, serving lunch Thursday to Sunday. It also takes private events, from birthdays, anniversaries and engagement parties to corporate gatherings and wedding receptions. The kitchen cooks seasonal Mediterranean food made for sharing: hand-made pasta, local seafood, crudo and grilled meats. Groups of seven or more order from set banquet menus, which start at $139 per person, with vegetarian and vegan versions available. For events, the format depends on the group. Hosts can choose seated dining, canapés for a mingling crowd, or a mix, and the team can set up a private bar just for your guests. The wine list is extensive and the in-house sommelier can suggest pairings. Dietary needs are catered for with advance notice. You can bring your own DJ or music, though the venue has no microphone for speeches. Every event finishes by 10pm. How much do group menus cost?
Groups of seven or more must choose a banquet menu. The two seasonal banquets are $139 and $179 per person, the vegetarian banquet is $119 and the vegan banquet is $99. Drinks are extra.
How many guests can The Hut take for an event?

Can we bring a DJ or play our own music?
Yes, you can arrange your own DJ or music. The venue cannot supply a microphone for speeches or presentations, so plan for one if you need it.
How late can an event run?
Events have a hard 10pm finish, so plan speeches and dancing for the earlier part of the night.
