About Private Dining Room @ Light Years
Light Years is a modern Asian bar and diner at 139 Jonson Street in Byron Bay. Off to the side of its main dining room sits a small private room for groups who want a table of their own without losing the energy of the restaurant. The room seats up to 10 guests around a single sculptural dining table made by Sarah Ellison Creative, who also designed the curved side table beside it. Playful illustrations by Studio of the Sun cover the walls, and a curtain closes the room off while the hum of the diner still carries through. Food is served as a banquet. Guests choose between the Feed Me menu at $79 per person and the Premium Set Menu at $99 per person, both showcasing the kitchen's favourite dishes. The wider menu runs from dim sum and bao buns to share plates, curries and larger dishes such as roast duck pancakes. Cocktails are a big part of the bar, and the wine list is chosen to sit alongside Asian flavours. The kitchen can handle most dietary requirements when they are noted with the booking, and asks to talk through complex needs ahead of the night. A credit card guarantee secures the room, and the table is served with full table service and settled on one bill at the end of the meal. What if our group is bigger than 10?
Larger groups can book group dining in the main restaurant instead. Light Years seats up to 22 guests inside and up to 12 outside, spread over several tables, and groups of eight or more dine from a banquet menu.
Can the kitchen cater for dietary requirements?
Most dietary requirements can be catered for when they are noted with the booking. For complex needs, the team asks to discuss them in advance, as not every requirement can be met.
How is the booking secured and paid?
A credit card pre-authorisation guarantees the booking and may be charged for no-shows, late cancellations or a big drop in numbers without notice. The table gets one bill at the end of the meal. Guests can split it, as long as each person tells staff the amount they want to pay.
