How to Choose Go Kart Racing

Racing outdoors on a real bitumen road circuit is the draw at Wollongong Kart Raceway, at 9-11 West Dapto Road in Kembla Grange. Hire karts run in sun, wind and rain, and arrive-and-drive sessions run for 10 minutes each, enough for the quickest to fit in up to 18 laps.

Helmets and Sodi hire karts are supplied, staff brief first-timers on the track and rules, and the karts can be slowed down for beginners.

What the circuit offers:

  • Single sessions – priced from $59 per person, with two-, three- and four-session bundles
  • Party races – practise first, then race 20 laps; or run a 15-lap heat into a 20-lap final
  • Group heats – five to ten drivers on track at a time, sorted by qualifying times, with a super final for the fastest half
  • Corporate days – a half-day Mini Grand Prix (sandwich and drink included), a full-day Grand Prix with BBQ lunch, or the Ferrari Grand Prix behind the wheel of 2-stroke race karts
  • After the racing – groups can order pizza and drinks

On top of the session price, each driver pays an annual membership, signs an indemnity form and pays for a balaclava unless they bring their own.
