Above the harbour rather than in a back room: Smoke @ Barangaroo House puts the bucks on a rooftop. It sits on level two of Barangaroo House at 35 Barangaroo Avenue, with an undercover balcony facing the water and an indoor lounge of plush seating and moody lighting.

The bar admits over-18s only, and the rooftop can be booked a section at a time or all together.

Where the bucks can set up on the rooftop:

The Smoke Indoor Lounge: 35 guests cocktail-style, a tight crew around the groom.
The balcony's South section: 40 to 60 under cover.
The North-West section: 70 to 90, or a two-section area on that side for 45.
Smoke Exclusive: the whole level, lounge and balcony, with a dedicated bar and a smoking area.
The music: bring in your own DJ or band when you book the whole rooftop.

Smoke Exclusive also comes with a microphone, ready for the best man once the stories start.

Drinks packages run on Standard or Premium lists, for two to four hours.
A bar tab with a limit the best man sets is the alternative to a package.
Six canapé pieces a head is the entry package, from $50 per person, and it needs 20 guests or more; bang bang chicken, bao and sliders are on the list.
Groups of ten or more pay a 6% service charge.
