School Formal Venues in Cams Wharf

Choosing the Right School Formal Venue

A school formal at Cams Wharf trades a city ballroom for the shore of Lake Macquarie. Raffertys Resort lists formals among its events, and its main reception room is built for a large group dressed up and ready to dance.

Why Raffertys Resort suits a Year 12 formal:

The reception room holds 200 for a standing event or seats 150 for a formal dinner, covering most graduating years.
Dancing happens on a big floor in that same space, with a private bar alongside, so the night moves from dinner to dancing without a change of scene.
Floor-to-ceiling glass wraps 180 degrees around the lake, which gives arrival photos and sunset shots a ready-made backdrop.
Raffertys Hill, strung with festoon lights, can host pre-dinner canapés and makes a natural spot for group photos before everyone heads in.
Menus run from a plated three-course dinner to canapés or a shared banquet, so the committee can match food to the night's style.

Packages here start from $176 per person and include venue hire, which helps a formal committee set a ticket price early.

Confirm numbers early: 150 is the seated ceiling, while a cocktail-style formal can stretch to 200.
Ask how the drinks package is handled for a school group, as the resort's standard packages are built around adult receptions.
Check what AV is available for slideshows and speeches, since the resort keeps presentation equipment for its conference rooms.
Talk through dietary needs when choosing between plated, canapé and banquet menus.

Getting the most from the Raffertys lakeside grounds

The Village Green sits right by the water and makes room for a big group photo with the lake behind.
The leafy Arboretum offers a shadier backdrop for smaller friendship-group photos.
The verandah off the reception room gives students a breather between courses without leaving the venue.
Parents and teachers travelling in can stay in cottages on the grounds, sleeping four to eight each.
