Since 1864, bowls have rolled on Union Street in Windsor, and Melbourne Bowling Club still pairs pennant and tournament play with social and corporate barefoot bowls for the public. Each rink is yours for two hours, with bowls, mats and jacks supplied and a bowls host to explain the basics.

Setting up a rink for your crew:

Each rink suits an even number up to ten, stretching to 14 for a casual group.
A round robin or knockout can be organised for a competitive edge.
Smaller bowls are on hand for children, who are welcome under supervision.
Hens and bucks bookings must start by 2pm.
If rain stops play, darts, pool and table tennis are inside.

Barefoot bowls is priced from $20 per person; allow about three hours for bowling alone, or closer to four with a meal.

The licensed bar pours tap and bottled beer, cider and wine by the glass or bottle, on a tab or as a cash bar.
Bowling groups of 20 or more can take a basic or premium three-hour drinks package when catering is ordered too.
Catering covers finger food, build-your-own burgers, BBQ packs, platters and corporate breakfasts and lunches.
Outside food and BYO aren't allowed, apart from a birthday cake.

Rooms for larger events

The Clubroom seats up to 120 at round tables or holds 300 standing.
It comes with a dance floor, small stage, projector and microphone.
Jack High is the smaller room, for about 28 seated or a 50-strong standing crowd, plus its own heated courtyard.
On-site parking is limited, but Windsor station and several tram routes are close by.
