Rush Escape Game South Yarra (South Yarra)4.9 (1575)

From $70pp

Six rooms under one roof, so a hens group, birthday crew or office team can split up and race each other against the same clock.

How Escape Rooms Actually Work

Rush Escape Game's South Yarra venue is at 160 Toorak Rd, with the group entrance at 147 Osborne St. Its six rooms were designed and built by the company's own team, often with local artists and restored vintage set pieces.

The six rooms by mood:

Three scare-free, colourful quests for every age: Cluemanji, Monsterz and the dragon-themed room
Secret Agent Man: a fast-paced spy mission aimed at teenagers and grown-ups
HackSaw: Chapter 2: borrows the mood of the Saw films
It's Nightmare: a true horror room for players 15 and older
Pricing from $70 per person

Each room takes two to six players for a 60-minute game, and the visit runs to around 90 minutes with the briefing and a photo debrief.

Groups too large for one room are split across rooms running side by side
Up to all six rooms can run at once, so everyone starts and finishes together
It suits a hens night, a 30th or a work social keen on a contest
Weekday team-building sessions are quoted per room

Kids, rules and afterwards

Kids' parties work from about age 10, and Monsterz and Cluemanji are the easy picks for younger players
Players under 14 must have a grown-up with them inside; with five or six kids in one room, the supervising adult's spot costs nothing
No experience is needed, and nobody is ever actually locked in
Save the drinks for later: Toorak Rd and Chapel St have bars and restaurants close by
