How Dance Classes Actually Work

Pink lights, a row of poles and an instructor who has been competing for years: Pole Divas Reservoir at 9 Newlands Road turns a group of nervous first-timers into a crew with a routine.

During the week the studio teaches pole, dance, stretch and strength classes for women, and outside class times it is reserved privately for celebrations – hens, birthdays, divorce parties or a night of trying something new.

Inside a Reservoir pole party:

A welcome of complimentary non-alcoholic sparkling
Warm-up first, then simple tricks, then a full routine set to music
Your pick of pole, lap dance or bootay, or a pole and lap combination
Birthday groups choose the songs
From $40 per person, for groups of ten or more

Parties run for an hour and a half and are strictly 18+, so plan this one for the adults in the group.

The bride-to-be can lead her bridal party through the routine, then the group heads off for dinner or drinks
Mates who already dance can turn the session into more of a jam
Lock in at least ten guests – that is the studio minimum
