Clear allTea lovers planning a celebration in Carlton will find something closer to a tasting menu than a cake stand at Oxi Tea Room. Climb to the first floor of 158 Victoria Street and the plates arrive one by one – little sweet and savoury dishes, all made in the kitchen, tied to a seasonal theme that is swapped out every few months.
Kenyan and Taiwanese tea traditions shape the drinks list. Leaves are brewed either teapresso-style or poured by hand in the Chinese way, and the low-lit room is calm enough for long conversations, with a glowing mountain scene painted along one side.
Built into every Oxi booking:
The whole table is served the same menu, which keeps ordering out of the way and the focus on the guest of honour.

Not at Oxi Tea Room – celebration cakes, outside food and BYO drinks are all off the table. Build the occasion around the coursed menu and add-ons like sparkling or a cheese plate instead.
Not for twelve guests or fewer staying two hours or less. More guests, exclusive use, extended stays or bringing in decorations turn it into a function hire.
The kitchen is halal and handles vegetarian, pescatarian, nut-free and pregnancy-safe requests, but it can't remove gluten, dairy, soy or animal products from the menu.
It is whole-leaf Taiwanese oolong and Kenyan black tea, prepared teapresso-style or hand-brewed in the traditional Chinese manner, with optional tea pairings.
