Everything to Know About Paint & Sip

MJC Botanical is run by Melissa from Mappins Nursery on Montague Road. Instead of painting, guests build a living piece with plants, moss and timber, then carry it home at the end.

Projects on the MJC Botanical menu:

  • Closed terrariums sealed inside a glass jar.
  • Kokedama, the Japanese moss-ball planters.
  • Small or large living wreaths.
  • Zen sculptural gardens in bonsai pots, and botanical sculptures bound to timber.
  • Vivariums for a more ambitious build.

Classes run for about two hours and finish with care tips on light and watering, so the piece survives the trip home and beyond.
