How to Choose the Right Hens Party Venue

A hens celebration on Straddie can trade the usual bar crawl for a laid-back afternoon at Point Lookout Bowls Club. The club hosts hens groups regularly, and its Banksia Room gives the bride and her guests their own space.

What the bride's group can plan around:

Barefoot bowls on the greens, which needs no experience and gets everyone joining in.
A room with a door of its own and lots of daylight.
Catering by The Curlew Kitchen, where local seafood sits alongside the club favourites.
Dancing once the meal is done, with a sound system on hand.
Drinks from the room's own bar, or a package arranged ahead.

Seating at tables runs to 120, so a big hens with extended family still fits.
The room's large TV can play photos of the couple from a laptop or USB stick.
Free WiFi makes it simple to stream a playlist.
The room's separate entrance gives the hens a little privacy from the club's regulars.

Island club basics

Locals call the club the Bowlsie, and it has served the island community for over five decades.
Visitors book alongside members, which suits a hens group staying on the island for the weekend.
Catering and drinks are worked out with the club's events staff.
Prices are given on enquiry rather than listed online.
