How Bucks Party Venues Actually Work

For a bucks weekend on North Stradbroke Island, Point Lookout Bowls Club pairs a few ends on the greens with a private room for the evening. The club lists bucks groups among its regular functions.

Here's how a bucks day at the club can run:

  • Barefoot bowls on the greens gives the group a laid-back contest to start the afternoon.
  • The Banksia Room has a separate entrance, so the crew has its own space away from the main club.
  • A private bar can be set up in the room, or drinks can come from the club's main bar.
  • Beverage packages can be arranged, which helps the group agree on a budget up front.
  • The Curlew Kitchen caters the night, from bowls club staples to local seafood.

Room setup for the lads

  • The Banksia Room seats up to 120, so even a large bucks crew fits around the tables.
  • A sound system and dance floor are built in for the later part of the night.
  • The big-screen TV takes HDMI and USB, so a roast-style slideshow of the groom is easy to run.
  • Free WiFi in the room covers music streaming.

Planning around the island

  • The club has been part of Point Lookout life for more than 50 years and welcomes visitors as well as members.
  • Packages are shaped by the functions team around your numbers.
  • Pricing isn't listed publicly and is quoted on enquiry.
  • Send the date early if the bucks falls on a busy island weekend, so the room and greens can be lined up together.
