About Donnybrook Gel Ballers
Donnybrook Gel Ballers runs organised team skirmish games with gel blasters on an outdoor property in Donnybrook. Players fire small polymer beads that are soaked in water until they swell, then burst on contact, so the game leaves no paint stains and far less sting than paintball. The field mixes timber panel layouts, pine forest, open bushland, tracks and close-quarters areas. Public games run across a full day on weekends, and night games under the field lights go ahead when bookings are made in advance, with players bringing a torch. Anyone without their own gear can take the all-inclusive hire, which bundles a blaster, unlimited gel ammo and entry, and an on-site shop sells blasters and safety gear and handles repairs. The operators pitch the game at players of all ages and run birthday parties, bucks parties, work parties and Christmas parties. Groups of 10 or more can ask for a private session, day or night, with game modes chosen to suit the group, and conditions apply. How much does it cost to play?
Daytime entry is $40 with your own blaster, plus $10 for unlimited ammo, or $50 for all-inclusive hire covering a blaster, unlimited ammo and entry. Night entry is $25 with your own blaster. Payment is cash only, with no EFTPOS.
Can our group have the field to ourselves?
Groups of 10 or more players can ask for a private session, either during the day or at night, with game modes chosen to suit the group and its experience. Conditions apply, so send an enquiry with your date and numbers.
How is gel ball skirmish different from paintball?
Gel balls are soaked in water until they reach about 7 to 8mm across and are almost entirely water. They are much smaller than paintballs, so they hit with less force, leave no bruising and wash away without staining clothes.
What should we bring on the day?
Bring plenty of water and other drinks in an esky, along with food for the day, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. Players with their own gear should carry the blaster in a bag and pack extra gels, spare batteries and a charger.
When can we play?
Day games run on Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 5pm, and extra daytime sessions are added on Tuesday and Thursday in school holidays. Night games on Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 10pm run only when booked ahead, and play goes ahead in any weather.
