Everything to Know About Paint & Sip

Hands-on art parties in the Inner South come in two forms: painting at an artist's home studio, or building living plant pieces at a West End nursery. Both make private sessions for birthdays, bridal showers and work teams.

The two Inner South workshop styles:

Katie the Artist runs three-hour private painting sessions for up to 10 adults at Studio HQ in Annerley, from $595 per group.
MJC Botanical, at Mappins Nursery on Montague Road, teaches terrariums, kokedama and living wreaths from $105 per person.
Katie's kids' art parties can be held at the studio or at your own home.
MJC Botanical's private workshops start at six guests, with classes kept to around 18.
At both, materials are supplied and everyone takes home what they made.

Katie McErlean trained in fine art and worked as a newspaper illustrator, while MJC Botanical's classes end with a lesson on plant care.

Adult sessions can include a wearable art option, painting a denim piece with fabric paint.
Kids use non-toxic paints with aprons supplied, and each takes home a canvas.
Corporate workshops start from 10 people, at the studio or another venue.
Work teams can bring their own drinks and snacks.

Projects include closed terrariums, kokedama moss balls, zen gardens and vivariums.
Plants, moss, gravel, substrate and tools are included.
Classes run for about two hours.
