About Katie the Artist
Katie the Artist is the studio of Brisbane painter Katie McErlean, who trained in fine art at the Queensland College of Art and spent years as a newspaper illustrator and television designer. She now runs workshops from Studio HQ, her home studio on King Street in Annerley. Adult groups of up to 10 can book a three-hour private painting session at the studio, with all materials supplied. There is also a wearable art version, where guests bring a denim piece and paint their own design onto it with fabric paint. Kids' art parties are run by Katie at the studio or at your home. Children try different painting techniques, use non-toxic paints with aprons provided, and each takes home a finished canvas. For workplaces, corporate workshops start from 10 people and can be held at the studio or another venue. Options include a blank surfboard design challenge, a collaborative large canvas, air-dry clay sculpting, mandala drawing and paint-your-pet portraits. How many people can join an adult paint session?
A private adult painting session at the Annerley studio suits a group of 10 or fewer. Katie supplies every brush, canvas and paint, and the session lasts around three hours.
What does a kids' art party include?
Katie runs the whole party, with canvases, non-toxic paints, aprons and protective gear supplied. Each child goes home with the canvas they painted, and the party can be held at the studio or at your home.
How much does a party or workshop cost?
A kids' paint party is $595, a private adult painting session for up to 10 is $880, and corporate workshops start at $110 per person with a minimum of 10 people.
Can we bring drinks and snacks?
For corporate workshops, teams are welcome to bring their own drinks and snacks. All art materials and equipment are supplied, so nobody needs to bring any supplies.
Can Katie come to our workplace?
Yes. Corporate workshops can run at Studio HQ in Annerley or at an offsite venue of your choice, and payment is invoiced 48 hours ahead of the session.
